The year 1891 saw the first few newspaper advertisements. "Ouija the wonderful talking board." The board landed in a Pittsburg toy and novelty shop, describing it's amazing capabilities. Through the stream of time since the 19th century, the board has held the fascination of many and scaring the wits out of countless others. The board has given many thousands a reason to play. Many claim messages from long lost loved ones who have passed on. Others have told about unfortunate experiences with the board. Hauntings, possessions, and more.

None of the men who came together to invent the board were spiritualists, but they were businessmen who had perhaps found a niche. It seems that they knew what would fill their pockets. Whether we believe it can connect us with the dead or not. It is fun to play with admittedly. I myself have had a couple of strange experiences playing with the board. Whether it was my mind, or whether it was a real spiritual experience is still puzzling to this day.
